Investment
Counselling involves an investment of time, attention and money.
I want the financial side of working together to be clear from the beginning. Below you'll find information about session fees, appointment length, cancellations, payment and insurance coverage.
Session Fees
First Session — $180 CAD / 90 minutes
Our first appointment is longer so we have enough time to talk about what brings you to counselling, review relevant information from your intake forms, discuss what you hope to get from our work, and begin getting a fuller sense of what is happening.
Individual Sessions — $120 CAD / 60-minute appointment
Regular appointments are booked for one hour.
Extended Sessions
Longer sessions may be available when appropriate and can be discussed in advance. Fees are calculated based on the standard hourly rate.
How the 60-Minute Appointment Works
A standard appointment includes approximately 50 minutes of direct counselling time.
The remaining time is reserved for clinical documentation and other necessary work related to your session. This allows me to keep your clinical record current while keeping appointments running on time.
Letters, Forms and Other Documentation
If you ask me to complete work outside of your counselling appointment—such as letters, forms, reports or other documentation—that time is billed in 15-minute increments based on my standard hourly rate.
If you're unsure whether something will involve an additional fee, you're welcome to ask before I complete the work.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
Plans sometimes need to change. If you need to cancel, reschedule or shorten an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Changes can be made through the online booking system or by contacting me by phone or email.
Appointments cancelled, missed or shortened with less than 24 hours' notice are generally charged the full session fee.
The reason for this policy is straightforward: once time has been reserved for you, a late cancellation often means that appointment can no longer be offered to someone else.
Pilots, First Responders and Unpredictable Work Schedules
I recognize that some professions involve circumstances that aren't entirely within your control.
For pilots who are on call—including air ambulance pilots—and first responders whose work can change unexpectedly, I offer greater flexibility around the cancellation policy when an unexpected operational or work requirement interferes with an appointment.
If this applies to your work, we can discuss how the policy works in your circumstances before beginning counselling.
Payment
Payment is due at the end of each session.
Payment can be made by:

Interac e-Transfer
A receipt is provided by email following payment.
Insurance and Extended Health Benefits
I am a Professional Counsellor registered with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) and hold the designation Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling – Provisional (MPCC-Provisional).
Coverage for counselling services varies considerably among insurance companies, employers and individual benefit plans.
Before beginning counselling, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly and asking whether services provided by a CPCA-registered Professional Counsellor / MPCC-Provisional are eligible for reimbursement under your particular plan.
If your plan provides coverage, the receipt you receive after payment can be submitted to your insurer according to its reimbursement process.
I do not currently offer direct billing.
If your plan does not cover my professional designation, you may wish to ask your insurer or benefits administrator whether coverage for counselling providers can be added or expanded.
